Tab. 2 National Focus Groups: technical data and means of implementation
The first four questions target areas of relevance in access to internet connections as well as
hardware and software equipment. Regarding RA1: Availability of high-capacity broadband inter-
net at VET providers, the developments in all countries are assessed as quite mediocre; only the
Focus Groups in Austria and Spain (or at least in the Basque Country) state that the VET institu-
tions in their country are largely satisfactorily equipped with broadband internet connections. But
by and large, basic broadband internet no longer seems to be a major problem among VET pro-
viders. There will be individual cases where improvements certainly still need to be made (espe-
cially in FR and PL), but here Europe seems to be on a good path. The situation is even better for
the internet connections of the companies (RA2), here almost all countries report that the situa-
tion is good or very good; only IE has rated the situation here moderately satisfactory; this may
be that the situation is really worse than in other countries, but it may also be a bias based on the
fact that the partner from IE has simply rated the situation in his country more critically. In any
case, the good news is that in most cases the provision of high-capacity broadband internet is not
an obstacle to the use of VR in the WBL.
