• Especially companies might be interested in such cooperation - provided they see finan-
cial benefits (in the long term) or understand this helps them to find quicker and better

                      trained staff!

Recommendations - 3) The hard ware: In the meantime, good equipment is available at reasonable
prices (see Chapter 3). It is not wise to try to save money at this point! There is nothing more

annoying and demotivating than working with old, bad and too little VR equipment! You will always
                 regret that!

                   • Especially because there is no funding for equipment, low-cost but high-quality hardware
                      should be purchased.

                   • The VR equipment should be as easy to use as possible (by learners and(!) tutors).
                   • The headsets should be lightweight, otherwise, especially younger learners won’t be able

                      to work with them.
                   • Stand-alone devices have clear advantages over wired ones – especially when more peo-

ples using VR are in the same room.

Recommendations - 4) The health issue: The health and well-being of learners should always be a
top priority - this is especially true when using VR goggles.

                   • Make sure that the use of VR is neither harmful (physically, mentally, emotionally) and
                      therefore not legally questionable.

                   • Always test all apps in advance whether or not they are suitable for young learners (es-
                      pecially <16) and/or SEN students.

                   • Especially in Corona times, a comprehensive hygiene concept is needed when sharing VR
                      equipment!

                   • Define clear quality standards for the health sector and communicate them in advance.

Recommendations - 5) The VET trainers: Be aware that the trainers are – as often – the key figure
in the whole undertaking – especially, if it is the first time you apply VR in your training pro-

grammes. Chose these key persons very carefully – they will determine success or failure!

                   • The trainer is the key figure in the whole training programme, so they should be chosen

                      very carefully.
                   • The VETREALITY course is not an ICT course!!! Therefore, only trainers with appropriate

                      ICT literacy should be selected!
